Continuing Comic Strip

This concept was explored in the book "The Narrative Corpse," a collaborative story told by 69 cartoonists including Art Spiegelman, Robert Crumb, Mort Walker and Will Eisner.
I bought the book and enjoyed the concept so much I was involved in a similar undertaking online. Here are the results of the first and second experiments with multiple cartoonists creating a 3 panel comic that picked up on the story from the previous 3 panels and either continued or recast the story which would then be similarly picked up by another. Unfortunately, there were only about 4 or 5 of us involved with it, so the cycle whereby the turn came back to the first artist and started over again was pretty quick. Also, I thought it tended to get at little sophomoric with all the fart jokes, but who am I to dictate content, it should be all up to each individual cartoonist and their vision of where the story goes. I thought this would be a good project to do online with many other good and creative artist/writers.Then I found out that such a concept was already online and going strong with quite an active community and it even had a name: JAM COMICS! Boy am I out of it or what?
